New Year, New You.

Happy first hump day of the new year! If you’re like me a little inspiration to kickstart the year on a day like today won’t hurt. I like to set new resolutions each year. I usually take this week to start thinking about what I want to accomplish and then I write them all down to track along throughout the year. I think it’s important to set both professional and personal goals. I always do better on the professional side than personal – probably because I have such little personal time and I haven’t been the best at managing it. I wanted to share some of my goals for this year:
Time blocking: Working from home can get distracting. I often think I have an endless amount of time so I’ll switch between tasks before I even finish what I started. This year I want to time block my day so that I’m not scrambling to get a post done at midnight every night.
Turning off: Again, working from home can be completely time consuming and some days I’m really bad about making time for myself and Phil. This year, I want to get better about shutting down at a reasonable hour and getting personal things done in the evening – like normal people.
Attending church: This is near the top of my 2017 goals. There’s a church right down the road from us and yet somehow I feel like I never have time to attend. Phil and I will live-stream our old church in LA every now and then – our old pastor is seriously one of the best pastors we’ve ever come across. You will never get bored listening to his sermons (here‘s the link to the live-stream). It really makes us miss living there. Sundays were our favorite day of the week. I really value the life lessons I get from church and it’s always a good reminder that the world is so much bigger than just me. I credit so much of my success to the will that God gave me and I really do owe everything positive in my life to him. Everything that’s good has come through a lot of prayer.
Working out: Ok this is probably on everyone’s list! I have no huge goals or weight targets – I just want to feel better. Working at a desk most of the day leaves me with a sore neck and back, but I always notice a difference when I work out and stretch those muscles. I have several exercises that I like to do each day before I shower that seem to make everything tighter. I’ve been bad and have not been doing them for a few months, but I really want to get back in the habit. Here‘s an old post with the list of them if you are interested.
Getting to know more of you: I really want to establish a better connection with you guys. I think one of the best parts about blogging is the people that I’ve met. I want to start more engaging series on my blog and take input from you guys.
