It’s officially wedding season! One of the most common questions I get this time of year is regarding wedding guest attire. There are so many factors to consider when shopping for the perfect outfit to wear to a wedding from the setting to the dress code to the age demographic in attendance – you’ll want to be sure to wear something that you feel comfortable in.
Go For Intricate Details
One of the biggest challenges I have is finding a dress that doesn’t look like a bridesmaid dress. It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’ve definitely been to weddings where some of the guests look like they could be mistaken for the wedding party. To avoid this, I always opt for unique silhouettes or intricate details – two things you rarely find in bridesmaid dresses – although the trend for beaded bridesmaid dresses is definitely something to consider. My own bridesmaids wore beaded dresses (see them here). I wore this embroidered maxi dress on our recent trip to Orlando and as soon as I saw it I thought what a great wedding guest dress it would be. The high-low hemline is playful and the embroidery is so intricate and feminine. It’s even more beautiful in person. Embroidered dresses are definitely trending this season.

Try Out This Season’s “It” Color
This season’s It color is definitely yellow. Anything in a deep marigold shade is on trend. I wore this a-line dress in Orlando and got so many compliments on it. It’s form-fitting and romantic. I love the ruffled asymmetrical hemline which gives it a flirty feel. Yellow definitely isn’t a common color for wedding themes so you’re likely safe with this shade. It’s a statement-maker without being too over the top.

Keep It Romantic In Floral Prints
Nothing says summer like floral prints. I love floral maxi dresses for a more relaxed outdoor wedding. They’re effortless yet chic. I always look for interesting necklines and hemlines to break up the print. Off-the-shoulder or plunging necklines are my go-to’s while high-low hemlines or slits add a modern touch.
