By now, you guys know that investment pieces are a big part of my wardrobe, and I always try to budget for them at the start of a new season or month. It’s so easy to get excited about new trends and overspend on pieces you’ll only wear once, so I find that creating a budget from the start ensures that I’ll end up with timeless classics to set me up for the upcoming months. Even though you may be spending more up front, buying into something that you can wear over and over again lessens the cost per wear and makes it more worthwhile in the long run. These pieces typically vary from season to season for me, so I wanted to share where I typically invest in my fall wardrobe today.

Coats

Spending a little more on outerwear for the colder months is important because the higher-quality materials will actually keep you warm and comfortable when the temperatures are frigid. Plus, you can throw on a great coat over any ensemble and it’ll immediately upgrade your look. My must-have style is a tailored silhouette in a neutral color like camel or gray.

Blazers

No wardrobe staple has stood the test of time like a classic blazer. It’s one of those investment pieces that’s not only timeless but adds polish to everything. I put off taking the plunge on my Balmain blazer for so long, and regret it when I look back. Ever since I caved into this purchase, I haven’t had an urge to buy another black blazer.

Boots

A great pair of boots will last you for years and still feel fresh every season. While you can get away with more affordable brands and dupes, they don’t often compare to the real deal with it comes to fit, durability, and comfort. Stuart Weitzman is my all-time favorite boot brand and they’ve held up so well no matter how much I wear them in the fall and winter.

Leather

Leather is a staple in my wardrobe year-round. I love keeping one on hand for that street style edge. It’s such a classic piece that transitions from day to night seamlessly, and I’m always amazed at how much wear I can get from a single piece. Lately, I’ve also been really into leather pants. Cashmere & Wool Pieces

Cashmere and wool pieces can get expensive but they’re so worth it since they’re guaranteed to keep you toasty warm in the winter. Despite being some of the softest fabrics out there, they’re surprisingly durable and will last for years to come. From scarves to beanies and sweaters, be sure to grab at least one piece to get you through winter.

Denim

Jeans are mainstay in everyone’s wardrobe, which means investing in a quality pair should be a no-brainer. They truly are one of the most versatile bottoms. You can dress them up or down, and wear them for work and on the weekends. My favorite pair is a high-rise skinny in a medium blue wash with slight distressing.

Structured Bag

I love a good, structured bag that’s practical and useful for everyday. My Givenchy Antigona bag remains a favorite every fall because it holds a ton of stuff without losing its structure. They shiny leather is so chic and makes any outfit look better! Even though I’ve carried it for years now, it still manages to look new.
